The Liberty Romford, the shopping centre owned and operated by Redical, continues to gain market momentum as it undergoes an exciting transformation to elevate and evolve the destination. As part of  Redical’s multi-year centre improvement budget of £7 million, the long-term commitment to revitalise The Liberty is well underway, with the imminent roll out of the  new brand identity across the scheme, supported by the centre’s placemaking enhancements and complemented by the recent opening of two leading F&B operators, Pret A Manger and Black Sheep Coffee.

Kickstarted in 2022 following its purchase and significant investment by industry disruptors, Redical, the new era of transformation for The Liberty Romford has already welcomed noteworthy placemaking enhancements, with over half a million pounds invested in the implementation of frictionless car parking, CCTV and cleaning upgrades and a new centre management suite. The new brand identity and destination refresh is soon to be revealed on the new entranceways and wayfinding signage, signifying to the market the active step change at The Liberty Romford under Redical’s new leadership.

Redical’s ambition and investment are to maintain The Liberty Romford’s position as the number one satellite shopping centre in London, ranking top in retail spend opportunity, amounting to £247 million, amongst 13 satellite centres in the capital.  With the destination drawing in an annual footfall of 13.6 million and its dwell time exceeding comparable shopping centre benchmarks by 21%, Redical’s focus on unlocking the full potential of the destination is gathering momentum, with a number of sector-leading brands having recently opened at The Liberty Romford.

Adding strength to the centre’s existing lineup of F&B tenants, globally renowned sandwich chain, Pret A Manger, and independent coffee pioneer, Black Sheep Coffee, have both opened at The Liberty, marking London borough debuts for the two operators. Measuring over 4,100 sq ft and 3,300 sq ft respectively, the two best-in-class brands join the destination’s portfolio of international, best of British and independent F&B operators.

Mikko Syrjanen, Co-Founder at Redical Holdings AG, commented: “At Redical we are serious about unlocking the full potential of our assets and The Liberty Romford is a prime example of this. By introducing a new, strong in-house and leasing team and heavily investing in the destination, we are driving a new era of transformation forward, which is already being recognised by sector-leading brands. Our commitment to the destination is long-term, our investment whilst significant is also considered and the imminent roll out of the new brand identity is a spotlight moment to demonstrate to the market The Liberty Romford’s step change and elevation.”

This news follows the recent announcement that under the new leadership of Leasing Director, Oliver Lloyd, and Asset Manager, Daniel Tucker, The Liberty Romford has appointed Cushman & Wakefield and Green & Partners to act on the retail and F&B leasing to drive the destination forward, enhancing its tenant portfolio and broadening its appeal to visitors.  In addition, Green & Partners will lead on lease expiries and rent reviews.
