Redical, owner of The Liberty Romford, and its development partner, HUB, are launching the first stage of consultation on how the centre could evolve. The team is inviting visitors to the centre and members of the local community to share their opinions and ideas on its proposals to introduce new retail space and residential at the centre, alongside creating new public realm and landscaping.
Via an online survey on a dedicated website (www.thelibertyvision.co.uk), the public will be able to share its feedback on the plans. In addition, further information will be on display near Waterstones in The Liberty from 16th May, along with examples of the centre’s transformation since it was acquired by Redical.
This follows Redical’s appointment of HUB, a leading residential developer and placemaking expert, to work alongside its team to devise plans that respond to Havering Council’s desire to deliver new homes in the centre of Romford, predominantly located around The Liberty.

Stephen Daniels, Head of Asset Management and Regeneration at Redical, said:
"The Liberty is very proud to be part of Romford, so it is vital we understand the needs and wants of its residents as we consider how we continue to transform in ways that contribute to the town’s ongoing growth and prosperity. This is a chance to hear firsthand from visitors, residents and neighbours.
“The dedicated website - www.thelibertyvision.co.uk - will be a great way for people to engage with our plans. We appreciate, however, that not everyone may want to go online, hence also having a presence in the centre as another way for the public to provide feedback.”
Since purchasing The Liberty is 2022, Redical has embarked on an ambition plan to upgrade and enhance the centre, committing £7 million to its transformation. Redical has secured a number of new brands, including Pret, Black Sheep Coffee and Rituals, with Miniso and Lovisa set to open in the coming months. In addition, several brands have invested in their stores at the centre, the most recent being Pandora.
Redical has also invested in the car parks, with the installation of improved lighting, signage and a much more convenient App to facilitate payment, and is currently implementing new graphics at the centre’s entrance to create a greater sense of place.
